Turkish Baklava

The ingredients

  • An envelope of ready-made Baklava paste
  • 200 grams soft butter
  • 2 tablespoons of ground pistachios

Honey components

  • 1 and half cup of water
  • 1 cup and 1/3 sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1 tablespoon rose water

Filler ingredients

  • 3 cups blanched almonds and coarse
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Half a teaspoon of mixed spices
  • A third of a cup of sugar

How to prepare

  • Preparing the honey: Mix grated orange peel, cinnamon, honey, water and sugar in a bowl over low heat. Stir the mixture, then bring it to a boil over high heat. Remove the pot from the heat, then put the rose water, and leave it aside to cool down.
  • heat the oven at 180 ° C, then grease the oven tray with a little butter.
  • Preparing the filling: Mix the sugar, spices, cinnamon and almonds well in a bowl until the ingredients are homogeneous.
  • Brush a layer of baklava paste, then brush a little butter. Repeat this step until half of the dough runs out, buttering each layer. Spread the filling mixture over the layers of dough until it is completely covered. Brush the rest of the baklava dough and butter each layer. Divide the baklava into equal sized squares, then spread the ground pistachios on top. Insert the baklava tray into the oven for at least forty minutes, until it turns brown and golden in color. Take out the tray from the oven, then pour the drink directly on it.
