The original Turkish Simit( is crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside) very successful and easy

Simit is the most famous Turkish food for the morning breakfast among the Turkish people, and it consists of bread sprinkled with sesame seeds, and served with a cup of delicious Turkish tea, it is very popular.

Through our kitchen, you will learn how to prepare it by steps, so I strongly advise you to follow the recipe with all its steps so that it succeeds with you from the first time.

The ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cup flour intended for baking
  • 1/3 cup warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup date molasses
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sesame, toasted

(Servings for 4 people)

How to prepare

  • Mix the yeast, sugar and a quarter cup of warm water and stir them until all are dissolved and leave a quarter of an hour
  • In a kneading bowl, put 3 cups flour, salt and dissolved yeast and add water gradually until a soft dough is formed.
  • Leave the dough for about an hour to ferment
  • Divide the dough into 8 or more portions, depending on the size of each pie, and leave it until rest
  • Meanwhile, mix a cup of water, date molasses and a spoonful of flour
  • We make each piece of dough in the form of a long rope about 40 cm in size, then we take the two ends and stick them together and twist, then we tear the two ends again and a thick ring is formed
  • Dip each piece with the molasses mixture and place it in an oven tray lined with baking paper until the amount is finished
  • Simit leaves approximately 10 minutes
  • Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 225 degrees
  • Sprinkle simit with water spray and also inside the oven (until the surface is dry)
  • Simit is baked for 20 minutes
  • It can be served for breakfast with different kinds of cheese, with olives, slices of cucumber and tomato
